   yea man if smells like teen spirit was the only song the had the would be more alternative but they have way more songs than that most of which are punk like breed or sliver

   Without drugs/depression Alice in chains would be a shit band. Substance abuse and a pessimistic attitude made them millionaires. But they are a kick ass metal band ( and no they should not be considered grunge).
